So much is going on in our world today. Hurricane Harvey just rocked Texas - and we had several personal investments in the area. We have cousins that live in Houston, close family friends, my CASA kid, and Nephew Two is a Houston Police Officer. It was a rough weekend. Then fast forward to Irma. Not as many personal contacts in Florida - except my childhood friend - Luciana (from Brazil) lives in Orlando.
Is Hurricane season over yet??? We are ready.
Grace is finding a way through the devastations of late. We have seen so many pictures and heard so many stories. I am so thankful for that. As we remembered 9 11 this week - perhaps we should make a point to remember how quick we are to show grace during hurricanes - the actual ones with water and wind. Perhaps we could show graces in the hurricanes of life too.
On the flip side we still have so much anti-grace going on in our country. So much division among differences in people. I am just amazed that we have taken giant leaps backwards.
To use hurricane descriptions:
*we are drowning in our hate and disgust for ones who are different than us
*the activists of the past would be blown away by our backwards direction (Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King Jr. to name 2)
*destructive words shared on twitter and other personal communication outlets
*strong language used on websites that project hate & disgust for misunderstood groups
We could go on - but let's don't. Let's find the way of Grace. Let's be Grace in spite of the negative that we may encounter. We know that Jesus wins - we know that in the end He matters.
